The evaluation was conducted using a summative evaluation model that focuses on assessing learning outcomes after the program is completed. The data used in this study were questionnaire data filled out by students regarding their learning experiences and perceptions of increased abilities, as well as field observation data covering teaching methods, classroom interactions, and learning environments. The analysis method includes questionnaire validity and reliability tests to ensure data accuracy, as well as weighting methods to assess important aspects of the program. The evaluation results show that the language program at Time Language Center makes a significant contribution to improving students' readiness to face the IELTS exam, especially in the aspects of listening and reading comprehension. However, there are several weaknesses in the speaking skills aspect that need to be improved and evaluated. Recommendations proposed include improving interactive teaching methods and adding intensive speaking practice sessions. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the effectiveness of language programs and the importance of summative evaluation as a measuring tool for learning success in the context of exam preparation such as IELTS, so that it can be a reference for other course institutions in developing more effective and measurable learning programs.
Saiyidinal Firdaus Saiyidinal Futhra Ramadhan Muchlas Suseno Samsi Setiadi ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 10 1 1 22 10.55345/stba1.v10i1.266 An Analysis of Speech Functions used by Mr. Beast on Youtube Channel http://journal.stba-prayoga.ac.id/index.php/stba1/article/view/264
Speech functions are ways used by someone to convey ideas in communication to make listeners understand the ideas correctly. Using a qualitative descriptive method and utilizing the postmemory theory by Marianne Hirsch, this research was finally finished. The three concepts of Hirsch, i.e., memory transmission, reconstruction, and identification, are the main tools in uncovering the questions of how the old generation’s memory is transmitted to the post-generation, and how the post-generation cuts off the intergenerational trauma. At the end of the research, the writers found: 1) There is a structure of familial memory transmission from the mother to the daughter and then to the granddaughter, known as affiliative transmission from the objects related to past trauma. 2) To break the chain of intergenerational trauma, the parties related to the trauma should make a serious effort to experience what-so-called post-generation reconciliation. The consciousness possessed by the post-generation draws itself to overcome the trauma passed down from the previous generation.

Keywords: intergenerational trauma, transmission, post-generation, postmemory.
Fadhilla Aulia Yoanthi Yohanes Tuaderu ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-07-04 2025-07-04 10 1 32 46 10.55345/stba1.v10i1.263 Phatic Category in Oral Communication Minangkabau Language http://journal.stba-prayoga.ac.id/index.php/stba1/article/view/259
This study aims to describe the forms and functions of phatic categories in Minangkabau oral communication. Phatic categories are linguistic elements that play a role in establishing and maintaining social interactions without conveying direct informational meaning. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research analyzes spoken data from Minangkabau speakers in Padang City, West Sumatra. The findings reveal that Minangkabau phatic expressions include bana, pun, juo, garan, ma/mah, ah, eh, a, ha, do, and lah, each serving specific social functions. For instance, bana expresses intensity, pun indicates addition/decision, eh is used by higher-status individuals toward lower-status ones, and do emphasizes denial. This study contributes to pragmatic and sociolinguistic research on regional languages, particularly in understanding the role of phatic expressions in Minangkabau society, which highly values politeness and social norms in communication.
Yessy Prima Putri Nelfira Nelfira Puspawati Puspawati ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-07-04 2025-07-04 10 1 47 57 10.55345/stba1.v10i1.259 An Assessment of EFL Students' Paragraph Writing http://journal.stba-prayoga.ac.id/index.php/stba1/article/view/268
This study examines how effectively English as a Foreign Language students can write paragraphs according to such factors as unity, coherence, and organization. They were the English Literature program students of the STBA Prayoga who took a Paragraph Writing subject. Paragraphs written were analysed qualitatively by close examination. Paragraphs were reread multiple times to identify key themes and concerns. This study analyzed a sample of their paragraphs and assessed them through three criteria: organization, unity, and coherence. Organising is nothing but organizing the thoughts in a logical sequence, while unity makes sure every sentence connects back to the main point. Coherence helps ideas flow smoothly within a paragraph. The results showed that students had a variety of skills in these areas. Some were able to write well-structured, unified, and smooth-flowing paragraphs, but others had a harder time keeping their ideas consistent and making their writing flow logically. These findings suggest that we need to focus on teaching strategies that help students better organize their ideas, stay on topic, and improve the flow of their writing. This study helps us understand the challenges faced by EFL learners when writing and offers some helpful ideas on how to support them in improving their paragraph writing skills in school settings.
Yusmalinda Yusmalinda ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-07-04 2025-07-04 10 1 58 72 10.55345/stba1.v10i1.268 Women Transcending in Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables http://journal.stba-prayoga.ac.id/index.php/stba1/article/view/270
This research explored the representation of women's transcendence in Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. In the 20th century, life in Green Gables was characterized by traditional values and strict gender expectations. Using a qualitative approach, the dialogue was analyzed based on Leech’s six maxims: tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The findings reveal that all maxims are present, with the agreement maxim being the most frequently observed (4 instances), followed by the approbation maxim (3 instances), generosity maxim (2 instances), and tact and modesty maxims (1 instance each). The predominance of the agreement maxim highlights its role in fostering a harmonious conversational environment, avoiding conflict, and encouraging mutual respect. The tact maxim minimizes imposition, while the approbation maxim strengthens rapport by emphasizing praise. Additionally, the modesty maxim promotes humility, and the generosity maxim reflects the speakers’ willingness to prioritize others. These results suggest that politeness maxims are essential in maintaining positive and engaging talk show interactions, with the agreement maxim playing a central role in ensuring smooth and respectful discourse.
Nauriyah Andini Andang Saehu Cipto Wardoyo ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-07-04 2025-07-04 10 1 99 112 10.55345/stba1.v10i1.254 Improving EFL Students' English Language Skills through Utilizing Trending Palestine Content: A Content-Based Instruction Approach at STAI YDI Lubuk Sikaping http://journal.stba-prayoga.ac.id/index.php/stba1/article/view/267
EFL students' interest in learning English is declin in cause of some of curriculum such as IELTS and TOEFL preparation, incoherence the student doesn’t understand the concept and correct pronunciation from native speakers.
